Sag En Tu Be

I made this while on an ancient Mesopotamia kick, following my reading of Snow Crash... The title is Sumerian, "Sag" means "head", and "En", which is short for "Ensi" means leader. The large members are made from 3/8" OD Copper tube, and the cuneiform filigree is made from 14 Ga copper wire. Everything is joined together with plumber's solder.

Approximate Dimensions: 85cm high x 80cm wide x 60cm deep

This closeup shows some of the funky joinery I needed to do in order to put this together with soft solder. This was mostly accomplished by cutting channels in preexisting fittings with a round file.

This closeup shows the funky joinery a bit more clearly.

This is a miniature study for the full-sized sculpture. This was made in 10ga (~1/8") copper wire, and is about 9" tall

Here is a picture of the piece at my show at the Piano Factory Gallery in Boston back in 2008.
