Drawings and Paintings

Perhaps due to the ad-hoc way in which I began making art, I don't have much by way of drawings and paintings, but here is a small selection from what I have!

I made these submarine drawings while I was in school. I had a poor understanding of how submarines work!

This is the second version of the bicycle-powered submarine drawing.

photosystem01

This is a study for a wire sculpture which would portray the structures, at various scales, of a tree... from the whole organism to the leaf, cell, chloroplast, and all the way down to the structures embedded in the thylakoid membrane.

eudoxus01

This drawing i did for a project that began in college, when I attempted to build a device to demonstrate a planetary model of Eudoxus of Cnidus (a series of nested spheres which attempted to reconcile astronomical observation with an Earth-centered solar system). The outermost circle is a Darrieus (eggbeater) windmill, which drives the device.

I haven't done much drawing from life, but here is sketch I made in preparation for the creation of a figure sculpture.
